Gatunek: dramat obyczajowy Monty (Edward Norton) jest inteligentnym i młodym dilerem narkotyków. Zamierza jednak z tym skończyć - chce zrobić tylko jeszcze jeden "deal". Niestety, wpada. Ponieważ to jego pierwszy raz - odpowiada przed sądem z wolnej stopy, ale dostaje wyrok siedmiu lat więzienia. Nadchodzi dzień, w którym będzie się musiał stawić w więzieniu w celu odbycia kary. Film opowiada o ostatnich 25 godzinach jego wolności, ale także o różnych postawach ludzi i ich życiowych wyborach. Monty jest tu tylko osią filmu. Mamy więc jego dwóch przyjaciół - Jacoba (Philip Seymour-Hoffman), nauczyciela angielskiego w liceum, który podkochuje się w jednej ze swoich uczennic oraz drugiego przyjaciela - Franka (maklera z Wall Street), który marzy tylko o zrobieniu kasy i ciągle oblicza prawdopodobieństwo sukcesu swoich poczynań. Gangster, dla którego pracuje Monty, organizuje dla niego pożegnalną imprezę w swoim klubie. Kumpel w interesach Monty'ego - Kostya, mówi mu, że to dziewcznya Monty'ego - Naturelle doniosła na niego policji. Monty w to nie wierzy, ale traci zaufanie do Naturelle. Spotyka się ze swoim ojcem, który całe życie pracował uczciwie. Monty jest wściekły na cały świat, co znajduje swoje miejsce w dramatycznym monologu wygłoszonym do lustra. A tak naprawdę jest wściekły na siebie, że tak głupio wpadł, mimo że był tak ostrożny. Jest przerażony perspektywą siedmiu lat więzienia, a jednocześnie jest świadomy nieuchronności tego co go czeka. Jest jak żywy trup, chodzący wśród ludzi. Oni jutro będą wolni, a on umrze dla tego świata na kilka lat. Ojciec namawia go, aby uciekł, zmienił tożsamość i ściągnął do siebie Naturelle. Monty przez chwilę oddaje się marzeniom, ale wie że i tak musi stawić czoła przeznaczeniu i poddać się karze, na którą zasłużył.
25th Hour Genre: social drama Monty (Edward Norton) is a young and intelligent drug dealer. He intends to give this up but he only wants to make the one final deal. UNfortunately, he is caught. Because it is his first crime, he is not arrested and allowed to appear in court on a specify day, but still he is sentenced to seven years imprisonment. The day gradually approaches when he will have to go to prison to serve his sentence. Film describes the last 25 hours of his freedom and also shows the different social attitudes of people and their life choices. Monty is only a focal point of the film. We therefore have his two friends – Jacob (Philip Seymour-Hoffman), a teacher of English in a high-school, who fancies one of his pupils and the second friend – Frank (a dealer on a Wall Street stock exchange), who dreams of only making money and constantly calculates the probability of success of his activities. A gangster, who is Monty’s employeer, organizes for him a farewell-party in his nightclub. Monty’s business partner - Kostya tells him that Monty’s girlfriend Naturelle sneaked on him to the police. Monty doesn’t belive this, but looses trust to Naturelle. He meets with his father, who worked decently all his life. Monty is furious of the whole world, which finds its place in a dramatic monologue in front of a mirror. But in truth he is angry at himself, that so stupidly he was caught despite beeing so careful. He is distraught at the prospect of seven-years of imprisonment but at the same time he is aware of the inevitable that awaits him. He is like a dead man, walking amongst people. They will be tomorrow free but he will die for this world for the next few years. His father encourages him to escape, change his identity and to reunite with Naturelle. For a while Monty considers this thought but he knows that sooner or later he must face his destiny and accept the punishment, which he deserves. Worth seeing.
